Have a new LaRue PredatAR on the way, 5.56 18 inch barrel. Looking for a good scope tactical and 3 gun. Kind of down to 2, see below. There are some good deals on the USO right now. Opinions appreciated or other suggestions. budget is around 1500 +- 300.

1.) Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24 VMR-2

2.)U.S. Optics 1.5-6x28mm Scope SR-6S

Have had both, still have the razor gen2. The USO is okay, but just okay. Vortex is not light but is bright, illumination works well, image quality is great, and adjustments have tracked true for me.

I would go with the Razor.

In that price range, you should also consider Kahles K15i.

I bought a pair of Razor Gen-2 1-6 Scopes this year as well as the 3-18.....all in MOA.
I use them on M14's and love them!

That said, I have this obsession with USO and will probably end up with their 1-4-red-dot for an LMT piston AR.
I have two LaRue AR's I might put USO on as well....maybe a 1-4, and their 1.8-10 on the 18" LaRue.

My next gun will be the LMT-MWS 308.....considering USO for that.

I could be just as happy with Vortex Razors for all the above....

Sorry....no help here I guess,,,,

In my opinion, the value of USO has always been in their customizability.  If you need something strange or unorthodox, USO is one of few options.
That said, their glass has never been awesome, their failure rates - for me and a few others I know - have been rather high, and other options represent a better value for a scope that fits into normal categories.

I have owned several USO scopes, have none now.  I have a 3-18 razor and 1-6 razor and love them both.

Now, lastly, credit where due: USO's EREK elevation knob is still, by a pretty good margin, my favorite.  It is durable, it is zero stop (kinda), click spacing is perfect, click resistance is perfect. I really, really like the EREK elevation knob.

In all other ways, USO is okay.
Freedom is something you take.
Respect is something you earn.
Equality is something you whine about not being given.

I have a USOptics 3.2-17 and love it.  I like the glass better than some do, love the mechanicals, EREK is "the bomb".  I've used a few others and like them, too.  Glass is "variable" quality from my view, inconsistent.  The one I have now performs very well and the glass is, at the least, "good".  Performs well in low light, but certainly not the quality of Swarovski, Zeiss, Hensoldt, or even Meopta.  For the $$$, they could do better.  I've had no issues, to date.  It sits on my NEMO Omen 300WM.

TIme of year when RC performs his "rocks, gravity, mud and blood" test on his scopes could play a role in their survivability.

Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

I have the USOptics SR-8S - 1-8x scope mounted on a 308 AR.  For its intended purpose, it does things very well and I have no complaints about the optics.

I also have the Razor HD Gen II 3-18x50 scope.  To my eyes, the Razor has the better glass but I like the knobs on the USO better.

My one dislike of the USO is the reticle.  It gets a little thick at 8X for precision/long distance work, or at least as much as you can get at 8 power and a 14.7" 308 barrel.  Covers a lot of real estate on the target at 600 yards.

I really like that scope and you're right EREK turrets are "The Bomb" but I love the EBR-2c reticle of the Vortex.

Great replies thanks. Have to sit on it awhile but leaning to the Razor. Can get the USO for $1000 so makes it a difficult choice for sure.
