I am considering a Simmons master Aetec 4-14x44 amd Mueller ATV/APV 1in/30mm for my Savage 93/17 hmr classic. SWFA Is selling the Aetec with Illuminated reticle for $129.00. Ihave no experience with either brand name and was wandering if anybody could point me in the right direction. I really would like something with paralax adjustmnent. I plan to drive down to Red oak (SWFA) tomorow to make the purchase.
Thanks,
Bill

I normally would tell you to avoid anything with Simmons on the side of it, but I do have an Aetec and it's a pretty decent scope. For the money it's hard to beat.

If they have the Burris Timberline 3-9 x 32 there for you to look through, compare the 2. For $120 the Burris is the best buy out there.

I sure like the Burris scopes but I want something with adjustable objective. This is another possibility and I have a set of Warne steel 30mm rings ready. The Mueller All Phttp://swfa.com/Mueller-45-14x40-All-Purpose-Tactical-30mm-Riflescope-P44586.aspxurpose Tactical APT

Once you look through a few side by side it'll be easier. Thunbs Up

That Mueller looks interesting. Keep us posted on which way you go.

I have two 17 HMR's that are used for ground squirrels.  One has a 4.5-14x40 AO Nikon Buckmaster and the other sports a 4.5-14x42 Burris Fullfield II with ballistic plex reticle.  Both work well for that environment.

Decided to go wit the Nikon Monarch 4-12x42 with luster finish with side focus. It should be a good match for polished finish on the 93r17. Should be able to start shooting this weekend.

That should be a good choice I have the older version of that scope and it is very clear. You will love the .17 HMR. Welcome to the OT.

Wink  That one wasn't even on your list.

It's a nice scope and you should be very pleased with your set-up.

Yah I know! I was not planning on spending that much on a "rimfire" scope but I know I would never be happy with the scopes I mentioned. I don't wan't to sound like a scope snob but when it comes to optics  I am very picky. That and I really wanted something in the gloss to compliment the polished blue of the Savage 93r17 classic.

Thanks for everybodys help!
