I have a 21" Saiga in 308/762x51.

I'm running a Bushnell Banner with BDC 71-3946 with CAMS/TURRENTS but want some more power without breaking my $. Current eye relief is 4" which is too much for my stock.. prefer 3-3.6"

Looking at these models:

SWFA Vortex Crossfire in 6-24x50 with illuminated Mil-Dot (exclusive one)

Bushnell DOA 4-12x40 73-4124B

Bushnell 6-24x40 71-6244 with illum Mil-Dot

BSA  Contender 4-16x40 with illum Mil-Dot

BSA Contender 6-24x40 with Mil-Dot (non-illum)

BSA Mil-Dot 6-24x40 with illum Mil-Dot

Basically I want to stay under $130 if possible.

Any other suggestions.. I want at least 12x. AO would be nice.

Shooting 400+ yards occasionally..

Albert

Of your list the Vortex is the only one I would consider personally.  bought the only thing in your budget that I'd remotely trust.  That said I'd leave what was on there til you could spend more and get better glass. You'll be happier in the long run than have to deal with the headaches of failures.

+1 with SVT. That's a lot of bells and whistles for $130. I might suggest that you for go some of the frills and go with a sightron S1 std 3x9 or maybe one of the redfields. If you insist on a $130 cadillac I would probably look at the Simmons 4-14x44 Aetec master that they have on sale for $139. I'm not sure you're improving your lot in life by great bounds but I would probably feel better than going with a BSA.

A Saiga is not a precision weapon by any means, having all those bells and whistles and that high of magnification in all honesty is worthless on that rifle.

It would be much better suited with a low powered fixed or variable scope.  Think 1-4x, 2-7x, a 4x or at the most 3-9x.

Not to burst your bubble but why would you want to put a Hubble telescope on a rifle like that.  It would ruin the balance and intended us of that particular rifle.

And was as already stated all those bells a whistles come with a price.  So only spending 100 to 150 on a scope and expecting much is asking a lot.  They have to cut all kinds of other corners to give you those bells a whistles at that price.  Meaning you loose glass quality, mechanical quality, durability, etc, etc.
Lifetime warranty and excellent customer service don't mean a thing when your gun fails during a zombie attack.

Point made. I was mainly going by features/price and Chris' comments in the post you referenced since I figured he had seen enough of these around. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I would wait, save more money and get a higher quality scope of moderate magnification.

There isn't anything on your list that I would pay my money for.

There also aren't all that many sub-$130 scopes I recommend and none of them have magnification above 9x.

In the ~$130 range:

In the ~$180 range:

For ~$300:
