I want one! Loaded with 147's, it has just about identical drops as a 300WM(with 190's) out to 1000yds. And about 1/3 the recoil.

If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I have one. It's a nice shooting cartridge, but I like 7-08 a little better personally. Pros: 6.5mm bullets generally have high BC
Mild recoil
Efficient
"Something different" cool factor
.308 family parent case
Cons:
Not quite as good a bullet selection as 7mm
Not as many rifles chambered for it

10-4, I think I might go with a 260 on this build. I wanted a 7wsm but that might have to wait. I have a few magnum rounds now so wanting something on the lower end of the scale and this might be the ticket. Thanks for the comments and keep them comming.

I like the 260, but the kimber montana I had while very light, was not very accurate. I eventually got rid of it, but my intent to is to again add the 260 in the future. I like 129gr bullets from Hornady for this round.

Personally, I'd go with your original 7WSM plan, but that's me.

I like the .260 Rem, but don't personally own one (yet). I've never understood why Remington didn't stick with it as it has so many good attributes.
The Silhouette shooters have said it's just about ideal for their purposes as the .243 is too light to knock 'em down reliably and the 7/08 has a bit too much recoil to get back on target fast. Going a bit off- topic, there's always the 6.5-06 of which I can't speak highly enough. It's really close to the .264 Win Mag w/out the belted case. Some would say the 6.5-'06 is the finest variant ever made of the venerable .30-06. There are so many fine 6.5's... not sure why the Black Ops boys went with 6.8 for the SPC instead of 6.5. |

@ Pyro
I see you mentioned the Rem Mag, but didn't say anything about .264 Win Mag... I figure you're still smarting from selling that beauty of yours and it's too painful to think about. If I'd seen your 'for sale' post sooner, that fine instrument would have been mine, but somebody else pulled the trigger on it first. |

I have a Remington M7 in .260. I couldn't ask for a better walking gun that shoots great.

to be honest with you, im kicking myself for ditching the 6.5. it shot 100 times better than the .264 did. and the performance between them wasnt to far apart. if you look at nosler's reloading manual, the 6.5 is right there with the .264. if i do it again, i will build a 6.5rem mag on a long action m700 so i can seat the bullets out further when im shooting 130 or 140gr bulelts. |

My Rem 700 Mountain in 260. Love the stock. It's pretty snappy with 140 grain ammo.

I had a ruger m77 mkII compact in .260 that was an absolute sweetheart, and a real tack driver! I let a friend of mine talk me out of it and have regretted it ever since!
