Can some-one confirm that the 30-30 bullet diameter is the normal .308 as loaded for 300Win Mag, .308 Win etc???

It is.  but it has a more rounded profile so as to avoid a "chain fire" when loaded in a tubular magazine.
unless of course you are using hornady's leverevolution bullet

You can use rounded, the big hollow points, and the new leverevultion bullets. Typical spire pooint or hollowpoint rifle bullets (for big game vs handgun style) are a big no no in a tube.

Thanks, my brother inherited a 30-30. With it came a box of 308 bullets, hence the question. But they are normal sharp pointed, so I have warned him not to use those in reloading.

Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
