I shoot a Remington 700 SPS Varmint in 308. I was measuring my recently fired cases and got some case measurements from 2.016 to 2.020. All beyond the SAAMI spec of 2.015.

Few questions:
  1. Do all of the cases over 2.015 need to be trimmed?
  2. Does a overage of .001-.005 make that big a difference for safety/accuracy?
  3. If I trimmed or have cases that are below 2.015 (ex. 2.010), are those OK for reloads?

Thanks!

1. Yes.
2. It could, depending on your chamber and throat dimensions. If your case mouth extends into the throat, then you could have a pressure increase because the case mouth can't expand enough to release the bullet before pressures rise too high. This could also affect accuracy.
3. Yes.

Or buy one of these in the proper caliber and find out the true oal of your chamber then trim your casings accordingly.

Measure after you re-size them if you haven't already. if you measure a fired case it will measure a little more in length. don't trim unill resized or you will come up short.
