I am looking for a new scope for my M700 22-250 VS. I am looking at this particular Meopta because of some features it has vs. 4.5-14 Conquests and VX3's. I mostly like the fact it is 16X. I also like the Meostar glass that I have limited experience with.
I have also looked at the 3-12 Z3 Swarovski, but it is low on the magnification I am looking for. Critters will be 400 yards, or so maximum, and can range down in size to woodchuck, porcupine and occasional crows on kill sites. I would like SFP so as not to obscure the targets when at higher magnifications. I would also like good contrast for hunting in low light and thick background cover. Cost is somewhere around $1K, give or take a few hundred.Any other suggestions are welcome. But, the Meopta has my interest and any real experience is welcome.

Well, I have told you that I like that particular Meopta a fair bit and if eye relief is not an issue (and on a 22-250 it should not be), it is a very good option for the money.
Another scope to consider (although I am not sure if it is available) is Leupold VX-6 3-18x44. I think it will be a solid contender in this price range. Ditto for Steiner 4-16x50 Predator Hunter. ILya

There's a couple of Swaro Z5 3.5-18x44 on the sample list for $1229.95/1299.95.You might be able to have your cake & eat it also.

I am back, at least a little bit here and there. The Z5 looks like another good choice for my uses. The weight doesn't matter on my choice since the gun is a heavy barrel. No doubt the glass is good. I have concerns with the BRX in low light.
There is not a lot of information on the Steiner or Leupold out there. The Steiner is getting my attention because I have a pair of their binoculars that I like a lot. The S1 reticle looks interesting in that it is a holdover reticle that looks heavy enough to use in some of my condtions with the center cross hairs. Thanks

With Swarovski scopes, BRH reticle is similar to BRX, but heavier. I do not know if it is heavy enough for your use, but I liked it a lot more.

Update-I now have the 4-16x50 Steiner. I haven't mounted it yet. But the optics are crystal clear and the power adjustment ring and side focus are smooth.
The S-1 reticle appears to be fine for low light with the main cross hairs. The holdover and and windage marks may not.......more to come. Thanks to SWFA for letting me get a jump on this scope! There doesn't some to be much out there on these yet.

I almost picked one up for a 204 Doug but decided against it for now. Anxious to hear your review. Does it have any color tint to it like some of the upper Burris scopes? |

Not that I have noticed in limited viewing. It seems pretty neutral. I will have it out at dark with a Kahles 2.2-9x42 C later.
