I got a new cz 455 scout, I'm gonna switch the stock out for an adult size with higher comb for optic.  I'm looking  for an optic to go with it. Primary use be plinking but rabbits and squirrels will fall.

Looking for $200 , but I'm willing to go up to 300 if its good enough. Its I'm trying to keep it rather light and handy. I dont need a huge optic. needs to be kinda short to clear the rear iron, and I've heard people have issue with bolt clearance with some scopes  Right now heres my top choices

Weaver v3 1-3x20. (smallest lightest)

Bushnell legend 1.75-5x32 (75 yard paralax) I believe vortex and fujinon also have this scope branded not sure what all the differences, i just seen  the bushnell has 75yard paralax.

weaver 2-7x28 rimfire.

Vortex diamback 2-7x35 rimfire (heavy)

I have a meopta 3-9 that  i like, and I know the make a rimfire, but thats a bigger scope than i want and need.

Any recommendations will be welcomed.

I just put a Nikon 2-7 Prostaff Shotgun (BDC 200) scope on my Ruger 10/22.  I wish it was illuminated, but I'm liking it pretty well so far.  It was easy to zero, quite a bit better glass than the 6-18 BSA Sweet .22 that I replaced with it, no tunneling, very "crisp" reticle (that works with Nikon Spot On).  I've only shot it to 80 yards so far, but it is dead on.  No complaints.  I've slain a couple of running squirrels after they jumped off my bird feeders (I've already had to replace one and repair two because of those verdammt rodents).  Quick on target... good field of view.  Worth a glance, I think.
Opinion,untempered by fact,is ignorance.

How is the reticle thickness?
I figured they would be thicker if it was for shotgun.

has anyone got their hands on a  Leupold vx-freedom 2-7x33 rimfire? its about the size and wieght  im looking for, but I'm wondering if its a  good leupold or crappy leupold, and the MOA reticle looks like its bit to much.  If it was mils it would be so line busy. I was looking more either regular duplex or nikon type  bdc, or mil hashes.

Does anyone have the diamond back rimfire and the weaver rimfire to compare?

I'm not familiar with the CZ 455. I'll have to check them out .

So, I checked it out,
It doesn't show that it's set up for a forward mounted scope. So and conventional eye relief length scope should work. As long as the bolt handle clears the eye piece.

I never mentioned an extended eye relief optic. Even the optics I mentioned are normal.
455 SCOUT is a model of the rifle .
It's not a Jeff Cooper style setup. Thanks for reading

I have had the Weaver rimfire 2-7 its a nice rimfire scope.  What would you think of putting a red dot on the rifle?  http://swfa.com/aimpoint-9000l-30mm-red-dot-sight-103880.html

Possibly a Vortex Spitfire prism scope. They make a 1x and 3x.

Spitfire has a mount set up for ARs.  It is way too high for a CZ455.

Like most bolt guns, CZ455 is at its best with conventional scopes.

If you do not need adjustable parallax, I like Weaver 2.5-7x28 for it s compactness.  Personally, I use a prehistoric Burris Fullfield II 1.75-5x20 on my 10/22 takedown and although it is parallax free at 100 yards, it seems to work fine for me.  I wish there were more scopes in this size range that go above 4x, but I seem to be alone on that.

This is an application where I really like 1" tube scopes and want them to weigh comparatively little.  In the tweener world of rimfire scopes, the largest I am willing to go at the moment is something like Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35 or similarly configured Vortex Diamondback.  Both work quite well.

My brother has a couple of 10/22s and I set one of them up with a Weaver 2.5-7x28 and another with the Burris Fullfield II 2-7x35.

While I like the form factor of the Weaver, the reticle in the Burris is surprisingly useful when you want to plink a little further out.

With scopes of this type, I mostly see Nikon and Leupold persist with them.  Nikon has a couple of offerings that are 1.5-4.5x20 and 1-4x20.  They are heavier than I like, though.  Leupold has VX-Freedom 1.5-4x20 and VX3i 1.5-5x20.  VX-Freedom has a Pig-Plex reticle which I kinda like, so I was thinking about trying it.  VX3i is undoubtedly a nicer scope, but I prefer something more interesting than a duplex reticle for this.

I could always have their custom shop swap it out, but I am not sure I want to spend that much effort on this.

ILya

I had the opportunity to look Arthur l though an xyz store vortex diamond back 3-9, in the store it looked good for the money. I i couldn't find any the others to test, I also read koskin article on budget scopes.
So I order diamond back 2-7 rimfire over the memorial sale from swfa.
Wish it has bcc reticle, but hopefully it should be a good pair

I think the diamond back should work, if I find it in adequate I'll just sell it and get a vx3i 1.5-5×20

I recieved my diamond back scope yesterday. I had a chance to look at it after work today. I grabbed my typical baseline(meopta 3-9)scope to compare it to. Its not as good as my razor ii, but its a good standard.
I laid the diamond back on a rest, but before I even got my. Meopta out I could instantly tell I was not happy. At 2x it was tolerable,   at 7x the quality showed. It was bright but, the resolution wasn't there, the image looked distorted slightly everywhere except the very center.   The edges where very noticeably bad. Maybe average Joe wouldn't notice but I did. I don't have the best eyes for this, but I guess I've become spoiled on decent glass.
So the diamond back is going back, I'll have to keep looking, I guess now in higher price range.
