I've been looking, too. I cannot find bulk Supreme brass. The only bulk out there is brass, that I have seen. You might have to buy the ammo and shoot it to get nickel.

the rsaum's were a waste of time and money on remingtons part, i believe the 7wsm will more than likely be the first to go out of the wsm lineup hard to argue with the most popular magnum in the usa in the 7mm mag, the 300 wsm and the 270 wsm i think have a better chance, the .270 especially, to close to a weatherby's performance, the 300 because the guys who like there 300 winm get curious and buy them and then they keep them both, the 7x61 sharpe and Hart's problem was that it was a competitor of the 7mm just like the .225 had the 22-250 and 223, i think the 6.5 rem mag is more popular than one really thinks is popular i am meeting more and more people who like chris have the old 600 or 660 mohawk and also that own the 673 guide rifle like the one i bought, i dont know much about the normas or the .358 i will assume the 8mm had to deal with the .338mag

I would tend to agree with you on the SAUM rounds, since Rem is the only one chambering for them in factory rifles, plus they're a bit slower than the other short mags. I thought the SAUM family was a really stupid move on Remington's part, since the WSMs beat them to the punch. However the WSMs have sold pretty well, and there's a decent selection of ammo for them, so it may be a bit premature to start playing Taps just yet. The reported Jamison / Winchester lawsuit followed by USRA closing their doors hurt WSM sales a bit, however, several mfgs are actively chambering for the WSMs and the custom gunmakers I've talked to have all said they get many requests for rifles so chambered.

Speaking just for myself, I don't base many of my cartridge choices on what's available in factory rifles, factory rifle weights, and local sporting goods ammo inventories. My 7WSM weighs 6 lbs. with scope, shoots great, and has the same and in some cases greater velocity than my 7 Rem Mag (though that doesn't matter in the least to me). I built the rifle for mountain hunting to see how light I could make a rifle and still have decent accuracy and good handling qualities. If the market doesn't have what I want, I build it, if for no other reason than to have something different. In factory rifle form, there's not a whole lot of difference in weight between long and short action, but if you're starting from scratch and going the custom route, shaving an ounce or two here, another couple ounces there starts to add up to pounds. If you already have a standard magnum, there's certainly no compelling reason to buy a short mag. However, us gun nuts don't like to burden ourselves with logic when getting a new toy, as that might get in the way of our wants! |

Well... for your sake, I sure hope you were dealt a better hand in the looks dept. than I was, bud!
...after all, having been cursed with such chiseled good looks might seem glamorous at first, but just like being obnoxiously wealthy, it's difficult to have any privacy, and you're never truly certain if people like you for who you are on the inside or just want your body! |
