I am considering getting a pair of 8 x 56 binoculars for low light hunting.  Has anyone reviewed the following binoculars?  Any input is welcome.

Meopta Meostar 8 x 56 B1

Docter 8 x 56 ED/OH

They are both just under 1K.

Thanks,

have not tried those but have a Minox HG 8x56 and love them in low light situations.....they work fine in all situations but are larger and heavier than a good 8x32....Big smile

I have B1's in 10x42 and for the price I am very happy. Looking at the cost of the 10x56, they look like a lot of glass for the money and no doubt very good for low light hunting.
I find the 10x42, with a less than 5mm exit pupil, work pretty good when observing critters against wooded backdrops at 30 minutes past sunset. The 8x56 should be far better.

Meopta Meostar 8x56 is very good and I like it slightly more than the Minox HG (which are discontinued anyway).

Docter is reputed to be excellent, but I have only had a brief look at it, so I can't say for sure how it stacks up.  It should be broadly comparable to Meopta and similar binos, but I think I liked Meopta's focuser a bit more.

They are indeed excellent bits of glass and highly thought of in Europe
Was sure I had a point when I started this post...

I just bought a pair.  They seem bright and really crisp in the center  They also have a very wide sweet spot, to around 85-90% of the view.

I think they have AK prisms, just not sure.  The CA control is very good in the center too, some CA is visible near the edges.  They also have a tripod mount.  TGhey are about 3 pounds, but can be hand held fairly easily.

I have no other 8X56's to compare them too.  I checked them out against my Swarovski 8x42 SLC's, and they were much sharper in the center and a lot brighter.  The SLC's had a greater FOV though.

I wonder how the new Minox ED's would stack up against them?
