I can't find the powders I want(RL15 or Varget or much of anything else!) to work up a load for my 9.3x62mm using 270gr Speers. I'm wondering if I could pull the 285gr bullets from my box of PP ammo,weigh/divide equally the powder and seat the Speer bullets. I know a heavier bullet will use less powder than a lighter bullet in the same cartridge using the same powder but not always. So what y'all think?

Find some VV-N150 powder. Works well with 266, 270 and 286 grain bullets.
N550 works even better with lower pressures.
With Norma brass and Norma 286 grain bullets you'll use about 58 grains of N-150 for 2200 fps. Keep your knuckles away from the rear of the trigger gaurd :)
That gives you a single rifle capable of taking anything in North America.
I just love that cartridge!

THANKS Mike. Where I live there just aren't many places to buy reload components and with the current supply situation.................... I've got IMR4350,RL22,IMR4227,and H4831. I CAN'T find anything compatable with the 9.3. Just got a wild hair about wanting to use those 270 Speers. I've been shooting a lt wt .300 for almost 30yrs and my 9.3 weighs 8 1/2 lbs all up so I'm not concerned with recoil but APPRECIATE the heads up!

Call S&S reloading in Argyle Tx. They usually stock the VV series powders in bulk.

If you can find some Ramshot Big Game it works great in the 9.3x62 with any bullet from 270 grains up. I know the Ramshot powders are spotty in distribution. I have never been able to find any pattern in where they are available--except, of course, in and around Montana where Western/Ramshot is headquartered. Big Game gives outstanding performance with any of the heavier bullet weights in the 9.3x62. |

THANKS John. I've been collecting reload data for the 9.3x62mm for a couple yrs now and have your Big Game load data included. I see Graf's has PP ammo in stock so maybe I'll just pick up an extra box until this availability problem is resolved,if ever. My top two choices are Big Game and RL15 but would settle for Varget.
