but are they worth 3 times the price of say SWFA rings? In my opinion, for my use No. If we are talking SWAT TEAM life and death, maybe.

Swarovski Z5 and Z6 lines of scopes have 4 individual coil springs that hold the erector assymblies in place. They are very durable and track perfectly. It occurs to me that I automatically think of semi autos and carbines as "ranch rifles", not bolt actions. Perhaps that's because here in the south, there really aren't ranch's with long flat vistas, just farms. The Vortex Viper angled spotting scope includes a picatinny rail so a red dot aiming device can be attached to the scope. In fact, they produce a YouTube video showing how a red dot device can be used on the scope to help in finding objects. As far as I know, the Vortex Viper is the only spotting scope that has this feature (why other manufacturers don't include this inexpensive, handy feature is a another question).
 
My question is does anybody have any instructions for attaching a picatinny rail to a spotting scope so a red dot device could be attached to the rail? Or is there a good reason why I wouldn't want to do this? I've seen the instructions for attaching cable ties as an aiming device and I suppose they kind of work, but a red dot firmly attached to the scope seems to be a much better way of aiming the scope.
