I'm curious on these scopes as I want to get a 2-7x one for my Ruger Mini 14. The rifle is only for range use and I honestly really only get to go to the rifle range once every 2 months or so. Seems like it'd be a waste spending anymore on something that isn't feeding me or being used for competition. I figure if it breaks, I can just utilize their great customer service. What do you guys think?

I think that they look like a real value.  They offer their excellent BDC reticle in the new line.  I think that Vortex redid the Crossfire line for a reason, and they don't plan on losing money through excessive repair costs.

I think I wouldn't have too high of optical performance expectations at that price point.

Vortex backs up their stuff, there is no doubt.

Is the BDC reticle worth the extra? I'll be honest and admitting that while I know those extra marks are for helping to adjust windage, etc.. I really don't have much experience in that. I just shoot, then adjust accordingly.

BDC reticles are quite a bit of work to get dialed in.  But once they are, they are quite effective.  They are not a quick fix.  You still need to understand trajectory and angular measurement first.  If you aren't prepared to do that, then the standard plex is probably a better option.

The Vortex BDC can help with windage on the primary crosshair, but the dots on the vertical crosshair are for adjusting for drop.

Thanks for the informative reply. I think I'll just settle with the standard.
