I’m wanting a Leupy 1.5-5x20mm with the 1” tube and it’s offered in both the previous VX3 and the newer VX3i model.

I have a chance to get a like new VX3 at a pretty good price but comparing them side by side, would an old set of eyes wearing glasses notice that much between the two? Thanks.

http://www.opticstalk.com/leupold-vx3i_topic42573.html Based on what I have read, I doubt that you would see any real difference.

Also, didn't you ask this previously? Just in case you missed the fine members here answers.

Having owned both and hunted with both products extensively, I can't detect any optical improvements in the lower powered hunting optics versions of the "i" series.  This is in their 1.5-6x and 2.5-8x products.  The both take me out to the exact same times in the exact same lighting conditions and have the same resolution, contrast, and color rendition to my eyes.

Both product lines are a true dark thirty to dark thirty hunting scope in my opinion.  No their optics don't hang with my Swaro glass, but I can buy 6 Leupolds for 1 Swaro so that's not a fair comparison.  They do however offer enough light, clarity, and contrast to make ethical shots on game animals in the field.  Because of this all of my hunting guns are currently wearing VX3 or VX3i optics, except my rimfire and airgun which has a VX2 EFR on it.  My Swaro scopes have been sold.  My Swaro binoculars are irreplaceable to me.  I spend a LOT of time through my binoculars and relatively very little time through a hunting scope.  So long as I can reliably make shots in dark thirty conditions and my scopes hold zero, that's really all I need from a hunting optic.  I consider the VX3/VX3i line to be a pretty solid value in a hunting scope.
