Hey Guys, Just was curious to know if anyone had bought and used the new Leica 8X42 or 10X42 LRF binoculars? What is the battery life? And secondly how good is the warranty, in case I drop the dang things? Not wanting to be left out of the technology loop; by being able to make a great shot on a good trophy/ meat for the table, but I also no longer want to carry a lot of extra heavy gear into the woods if at all possible... I like to be able to move through the brush and want to be able to cary no more than the 12 lbs of gear that I normally do here in the cold winter months. These last few seasons were especially brutal, because of the snowfall of 3 feet, so the extra weight I was carrying in extra and restrictive clothing did not make some of the movements as enjoyable as they can be. Perhaps, I should limit myself to decent shots under 400 yards, because I know where the hit is going there. Perhaps just having one of those Boone-Crockett reticles is going to be enough for me, I am still not sure. I am certainly going to be in better shape this coming year. Thanks. |

Where are you hunting? Man...that does sound brutal. The Leica Geovid Laser Rangefinder binocular is not available yet and won't be until July. All the info we know about it is posted here and here
Keeping your shots closer is not a bad idea on a good way to cut down on gear and the new Leupold Varmint Hunter reticle would be an asset. |

They are pretty sweet. I tried them out at the SHOT show. They were only prototypes though. They were lighter than my Leica 8x42 Trinovids, even with the LRF inside. The LRF is supposed to be better than my current model LRF 1200 Scan. The binocular is based on their new super light Ultravid. The price for both the Trinovid and the LRF 1200 Scan isn't that much different than the Geovid, so I am going to sell my two units and by one of the Geovids. I find I end up using my LRF as a monocular a lot and I'd like to only have to carry and use one piece of gear for both purposes.
