When I was FINALLY able to afford to buy my first centerfire rifle back in the early 80's I had settled on two choices. A Rem 700 Classic 7mmRM or a Savage 99 in .358Win. SURE WISH I'd a bought that Savage!

They would have been great if it had not been for the flaw in the stocks. Where almost all have cracked. That hurt Savage. The rest of the rifle is much better designed than the Winchester that it competed against.
Folks ain't got a sense of humor no more. They don't laugh they just get sore.

Need to follow the rules. Just hard to determine which set of rules to follow
Now the rules have changed again.

Friend of mine bought a used Savage 99 in 308 about a year ago. Cleaned it up and shot it. Shot supprisingly well for what it is, and open sights. He's thinking about using it for deer season this year.
Life's concerns should be about the 120lb pack your trying to get to the top of the mountain, and not the rock in your boot.
