Chris, you need to mention, If your gun will shoot 150 gr. loads, 100 gr. shooters will not use the same trajectory......

Yes it makes a big difference shooting 100 vs. 150 grain loads. I am surprised Burris did not include 100 grain load ballistics in their charts. I believe most shooters use 100 grain pyrodex loads than 150 grain "super" loads. |

okay, folks, the Remington 700 ML is back from Spradlins fully tefkoted and the Burris FFII is securely mounted via Warne bases and rings. We will head for the range on Sunday and attempt to develop a ballistic plex guideline for two pellet (100gr) loads with Hornady sabot jacketed hp's. Reports on Monday. Stay tuned.... |

What happened to your report argentine? I am looking forward to your results on the Ballistic Plex figures you get for a 2 pellet load in a .50 cal muzzleloader. I will have to hit the range and do my own work on that as well.

I am afraid you will have to wait a bit longer....Remington M700 ML has standard side lever safety. Last year it discharged when I put the safety in the fire position. Thought it was a fluke. Repaired for free at Remington repair facility. Last Sunday same thing happened a second time. Message board inquiry reveals this is an inherent design flaw and has caused at least one accidental death and law suit. Remington discontinued muzzleloaders but don't know it this is coincidental or not. Anyway, gun back to repair facilty and will be a week to ten days before I can work up the numbers... |

Well I have some news, but nothing dispositive. The scope is great and I thank Chris and those of you that recommended it for the muzzleloader. I picked up the gun from the gunsmith, mounted the scope and was two inches high at 50 yards with no adjustment needed for windage. Second shot was right on the money at 100 yards and third using the first lower bar on the reticle put my third shot 2inches high at 100 yards. I then decided to see if I could put a group at that spot, 12 oclock, two inches high using the first lower bar. At that point the firing apparatus on the Remington bolt broke down again. So I am back at the gunsmiths. The load was two pellets of Tripple Seven over a Hodgson 245sabot. Hope this is helpful. It proves the scope theory. I hope to either get the gun shooting once and for all or redo the test with a replacement. Anyone know anything about the new Savage M10 ML...they say you can load it with smokeless? wow... |

I am glad you like your Burris scope. It is too bad about your Remington muzzleloader though. I would seriously consider ditching your Remington muzzleloader and buying a Knight DISC Extreme or a T/C Omega. The Savage 10ML-II is also a very good muzzleloader. I plan on buying one this fall and putting a Bushnell Elite 4200 2.5-10x40 scope on it. They are made specifically for smokeless powder and are reported to be a very accurate gun. You do have to be careful about which powders you use in it, but Savage does have a list of recommended bullets and powder charges for their muzzleloader.
I will be heading to the range in the next couple of weeks to test out my Fullfield II / Knight DISC combo and report my findings then. Good luck with your future range sessions, hopefully you can find a better gun and get some more practice with the Ballistic Plex. |
