Hi All;

I wanted to give my experience regarding bases/rings for the Savage Axis.  I went with the M902/904M from Warne and let me tell you the unmatched quality and fit.  The 902 is the standard two piece base while the 904 is an extension for shorter scopes.  Savage has a very long action so the extension is handy.

SWFA Big Smile was awesome and shipped the high quality steel, American made parts in no time flat.

Fit is great and I highly recommend this setup for the Savage Axis/Edge.

Ken,
How far apart, center-to-center, do those bases put the rings?
What rings are you using?

Welcome to OT Ken!
No surprise here on the warne products or your service from SWFA! They are both as good as it gets!

Hey Ya'll I didn't want to butt in but i just got a savage axis and ordered a 20 moa farrell base after checking out the warne, which i already own set anyways, but decided to go with the farrell picitanny cause the guys i shoot with have them on their long range builds and wondered why SWFA doesn't carry his stuff, he's also AMERCICAN MADE Excellent  which is nice to see that again! but either way anything made in America has got to be better than made in C%@#A... didn't know if you guys had any experience with the farrell base but my buddies have and they seem to really like them but any feedback would be nice or i can just wait the 2-3 business days and see for myself. lol thannks and YES Kudos on SWFA's great customer service I will always try to go thru them before using anyone else.

Hi Shenko;

Being that their Weaver style bases, the ring position is adjustable +- 3/4" up front and 1" in the rear.  I'm using the Warne rings/medium heigth 1" permanent style. (see link)

You can also get an extension for the front which would be around 2" of overall adjustment for the scope or do like BuddyDanger did and buy a rail.

Good luck and thanks for the posts.
