I have about 300 dollars budgeted for a new rangefinder. I am more concerned with the functionality of the range component than I am with the optics because I always have other optics with me when I hunt. I typically will not shoot any animals out past 500 yards so that is the range I would like it to be effective too for deer and elk.

What is the best rangefinder for my buck in that price range?
Thanks in Advance

When i was in your position I ended up with this exact RF -
Bushnell 5x24 Scout 1000 Laser Rangefinder Bushnell 5x24 Scout 1000 Laser Rangefinder
Stock # - BUS201932
  • Black
  • Angle Range Compensation (ARC)
  • Free Carrying Case w/ Purchase
  • Free Strap w/ Purchase
$289.95
I'm pretty much anti bushnell as well but it was said to be the best in the market for the price at that time and I'd have to spend much more to get better.  IT was a hard pill to swallow but i bought it anyway and thus far after two seasons of use and a lot of use on the range it works great still.  I have ranged a deer at over 600 yrds with it on clear days and I've hit barns at over 900 several times with no problems with it.

SVT please chime in as your fund of knowledge is much appreciated; I realize this is an old post.  I am in the market for a LRF.  Currently I own the  Bushnell ARC 10x bincoc with laser range finder.  My problem is the display is so hard for my aging eyes to see.  Tack on that I am red/green color blind and you can now appreciate how difficult it is to see the display in bright daylight.

What would you recommend that has a great display in broad daylight and of course meet your requirements as a great LRF?
