I cannot imagine a poll such as this, leaving out three calibers.  The 460, 416 and 378 Wbys.  The 416 would probably be my choice or the 460.  It has much more power and range than any of the calibers above, with a little more kick.  If you can handle many of the rifles above, you can handle this caliber.  If you do not want it in a Mark V, because of the push feed and magazine release on the trigger guard, buy it in another brand of rifle.

yeah it seems most people agree with me on the 375 ether ruger or H&H so why put a bunch of calibers no one has ever heard of let alone why use it on plains game too when its that big when a 375 will reach alot farther

I love my .375 H&H and I can even find ammo all over the place in Michigan.

the .375 h&h is a historical giant its tested tried and true no doubt a winner its been there and done that, i was shocked to see and i know he was shocked to say it but boddington was very impressed with the .375 ruger, he dared to say it may some day replace the h&h which he says i cant believe i just said that! .375 is good, i think if i were after one of the "dangerous 5" i would be after something .40 cal or bigger.

I chose the .416 Rigby for nostalgic reasons, and because the .416 will take anything roaming the planet, is available in most of the best "safari style" bolt actions, yet despite it's recoil isn't exactly mild, it won't beat you senseless quite like the "half inch and larger" Nitro Express calibers, the .460, .505, and .458s can.

Also, nobody's selected that one yet, and it's superb reputation in Africa definitely warrants consideration.

Where is 8Shots on this one?

Just a guess, if we take the 7mag flier and possibly the .300 H&H out, the .375 H&H and .458 WM have more ammo availability in Africa than all the others combined.

The .458 Lott will shoot the .458 Win. I am a handloader but ammo supply would definitely come to play in my book.
