I use the Sinclair hex-shaped comparator, for use with dial calipers. Inexpensive, adapts to multiple calibers, and works well...

Keep in mind, Sinclair offers 2 different models of this comparator, each with a different combination of caliber choices, depending on what you load for.

Thanks,
I've seen that before, but forgot about it. I just got the new Hornady catalog and they evidently bought out Stoney Point and their Case Gage line. They have their own comparators and I was mulling over the complete set, with the interchangeable inserts for like 12 common calibers. It's about $60 for the Deluxe set and like $40 for the abbreviated set.
The nice thing about these comparators, is that you can also use the oversize holes to check the shoulder datum head spacing point to a degree, on smaller rifle cases, say using a 45 cal insert on a 308 case, etc. You can then make sure that your shoulders are uniform.
Anyhow, for a third of the H. Deluxe kit, that Sinclar is pretty nice. They also make a very nice primer pocket uniformer that I need to get too.
Later, Chris |
