I've used both and have my opinion on which I like better. However, I wondered what the majority of you thought? Which do you prefer and why?

I doubt that durability is much of an issue with the VXI so that isn't in my thoughts here. I see the difference is that the Burris is better optically speaking.

I had both.  Sold the VXI.  The FFII was much brighter and clearer.

I have a VXII, friend has the FFII.  FFII is optically better.

IMO, the VXI'S are one step above crap. I'd take the FFII any day.

I have a FF2 in 3-9x40 and several old Leupolds in Vari-X II and feel the optics are quite a bit better in the FF2. I just don't really care for the (turn the whole eyepiece to change power on the FF2), but it works well as do the old Leo scopes. As for the durability factor, the Leupolds have done well and so has the Burris. I think the VX-1 has about the same lenses as the Vari-X II?

From what my eyes told me, the Burris is a notch or two above the VX-1.

Even the 3-9 FFll is better than the VX-1. If you go above to the 4.5-14 FFll Then you are in a much higher level of optics.

+1.  I have both a VX-II and the FFII.  I like the FFII better.

Just for the record, the VX-I Leupold is not as good optically as the VX-II especially small detail and contrast.  You still get what you pay for even with Leupold.

I have a couple VXII scopes along with the old Vari-x II's and they definitely are better optics than the old Vari X's and have click adjustments. I'm not sure if the VXII's are much different than the FF2 though, they are close in my eyes. For the price it's FX2's, but I still feel better supporting an Oregon company!

I have both and like the American made, Leupold better.  The optical quality is close, but its the service and support from Leupold that Burris can't touch.  I called Leupold recently and had a conversation with tech support about resetting the parallax to 60 yards on on one  of my VXIIs.  So......1 phonecall, 1 conversation, a $15 check, 1 cross country round trip for the scope, 9 days later the VXII is sitting on my Weatherby Mark XXII.  No confusion, no waiting, .576 groups at 50, thank you very much!

No contest.  I ditched a Vari-X III in favor of a Fullfield II.  The Burris is simply a better, clearer, brighter scope!

I'll take the FFII over a VX-1.  Now, if it were a VX-2 or higher then it would be Leupold.
