I am new to hunting with a pistol. I want to hunt squirrels with a Ruger Mark II. I have poor eyesight and I want optics to help me see better. I thought that a 2-7 Burris pistol scope with throw lever rings might be a good choice. What do you think?
Thanks! |

Both scopes are excellent and the rings are the same for pistols or rifles and Nikon and Weaver also offer great pistol scopes..........

Looney's right. both are good scopes. You need to buy the base and rings separately anyway. You can use Leupold or any other brand of rings with any scope as long as they are the same size ie; one inch or 30 mm. tube size. Mix and match to your hearts' content...

+3 on weaver, leupold, nikon and burris pistol scope. All should provide years of dependable service.

Thanks for the information. Do you guys think that a variable schope is the way to go for hunting, or do you prefer a fixed scope of 2x or a red dot?

This would be a personal choice I shoot a 4X and a red dot , the red dot is good to 50-75 yrds for me, the 4x can go 300yrds? the dot is quicker to get on target and for quick shooting or follow up shots it's great. mine is of 2x power I think for hunting the 4x is better.

I prefer a variable and use the Burris 2-7. I never use it over 5X as it difficult to see through. The Burris 1.5-4X26 is good, too. I like the pwer range better than the 2-7 but for some reason the 1.5-4 is about 2 inches longer????

I run a 3 moa aimpoint on a slabside. It is all I could ever want on a 22 pistol. The new ones
are offered in a 2 moa dot which would be even better IMO. Like has been said , good out to 75 yards. |
