Trying to decide on a budget scope for my RRA predator pursuit, 16 inch heavy barrel, 2 stage match trigger. I will be using rifle for varmints, hogs, deer, plinking, protection,ext... I cant wait to load up some 69 grain barnes TSX!!! If you all have any other suggestions in this price range ($200-$300) please throw them out ther. I know that is a tight budget but I cant justify premium optics at this point in my life. Also what is the best bang for your buck one peice scope mount for flat top AR in this configuration?
Thanks Selsor

The obvious choice here is the SS10x.

I have a 10x40 Bushnell elite and its really good for the price swfa has a sweet package deal right now on it aswell... goto the"check here often" that's a steal for it but if you can afford 299 I'd get an SWFA SS 10x for sure that's my next scope an SS! If the Bushnell had adjustable parallax it would be awesome the clarity is very good!

This may seem odd but on this particular rifle I would like to stay somwhat light and compact. The SS which I currently own in 10 and 16x is a bulky scope. I think I want to stay with a one inch tube this time. The bushy cought my eye because it is a rather compact scope and I have always thought that it would be perfect for and an AR build. The P223 is apealing because I would have the 3-9 magnification range. Hope this makes since to you guys would app your feedback |

The Bushnell deal is over sorry I mentioned that earlier... I just purchased the Optisan Mamba kit for my AR but the bushnell is a good clear scope. And your right it is a touch lighter!

I will admit that Nikon looks appealing and its set for a 223! The variable power would sell me on it... over that Bushnell

I'm going to throw another out ther now that the instant savings rebate just hit,
Its Mil dot, SF, and pretty decent glass. I don't buy into precalibrated scopes like the P223, everyones gun will shot a bit different than someone elses, with this buckmaster you can dial in what you want and make yourself a drop chart for future use.

Ok all I have decided to go with Vortex diamondback 3-9x40 with bdc ret. It ret is much better then the nikon bdc which i cannot stand and I am not likely to use the target knobs on the p223 for this rig. The vortex is also the shortest of all the 3-9 scopes so I will achieve my goal of keeping this rifle compact and agile.
Now, Do i need to go with a one peice scope mount like burris, swfa or nikon? The kind that position the scope forward... This is my first AR . I want this scope to come up to my eye perfectly! I have seen guys use regular high rings does this work okay? Not sure about the swfa one peice mount for a 1 inch tube. I know they have the conversion rings but I dont like the idea that.

The SWFA mount has never failed me holding a 1" scope. I've ran it on a 450 bushmaster for a while too. You should have no issues
