Hello All,
I do a lot of reading here but have never posted. I have the 6500 mounted on a Remington 700 300wsm.
The magnification range is great as I use this for my Elk rifle as well as some longrange shooting.
From an image standpoint the best I can describe is that it has a low contrast. The colors are a bit muted for me. Acceptable but not as bright as I had hoped.
The real issue I wanted to make folks aware of is the actual click adjustments on the turrets. I have the tactical model. The elevation is .2875 inch per click at 100yds on mine. The windage was slightly less. No real issue to build your come up chart from this as long as you know the correct value.

That is the scope i have coming in on a custom .308 i ordered. Tactical model and all. Thanks for the heads up.
Are you happy overall with it? I would think the lower contrast has to do with the slightly small (imo) objective of only 42mm. I've heard the glass is very good overall though. How is the internal adjustment on yours? |

Overall happy with it.
External adjustments on a hunting rig make me a little nervous. After working with the 6500 for some time I'm no longer concerned with it. The adjustments are solid and take about the right amount of effort.
Very repeatable in box drill.
Plenty of elevation adjustment for my 300wsm. I'm using a angled base but don't need it. I'm pushing a 168gr bullet just over 3000fps so pretty decent reach.
Personally I think the glass on my Leoupold III is a bit better. I'm not an optics guru just able to give opinions on what looks better through my eyes.
I really like the magnification range.
