I am looking for a semi tactical/long range coyote scope for my 6x47L custom sitting in my AICS chassis. The rifle was built for tactical type shooting but there are no longer any matches in this area so it is going to be transformed into a yote sniping rig. Anyway I need something with some hash marks so i can learn there hold over values. The Bushnell 6-24x50 sf has mil dots and the vortex viper has BDC hash marks same power and also a SF. what scope of these two do you think is the better all around optic? thanks Lee

I like the Vortex optics but the 4200 is a better made scope.I own a Vortex Viper and do like the scope but feel the 4200 is a notch above.I would put the Vortex Viper in the Leupold VXII & Sightron S2 category.

I think Vortex Viper and Elite 4200 scopes are direct competitors. I can't easily call one scope line better than the other. It really goes by model.
For example, with higher magnification scopes, I really prefer 6.5-20x Viper to Bushnell's Elite 4200 offerings. In the mid-high range, Bushnell's Elite 4200 4-16x scopes are better than 4-12x40 Viper. With 3-9x40 models, it is pretty much a tie. In the lower magnification range, there is really no overlap. Viper has the 2-7x32 tweener, while Bushnell has 1.25-4x24 low range variable. These go after different market segments. Ultimately, if you are looking at high magnification models for longer range target shooting and varminting, I would go with Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 with MilDot reticle. ILya
