I have one of these on my Rem 308VS and have been happy with it so far,
although I have only about 300 rounds thru it. The optics appear
clear and the point of aim held good so far, although I havent done
much dialing to check for repeatablilty. 1/2 to 3/4 inch groups
are standard with the current setup, after I got the loads and bugs
worked out of the gun./loads. Just wondering what kind of success
others have had with this particular scope, as so far for the money,
its been great. Ive been looking at getting another one, but I am
also considering the Tasco SS 10x42. Looking at the specs, both
scopes have percieved benefits, as the Legend is both a variable and
has a larger feild of veiw, but its durability/repeatability is
an unknown quantity, while the SS 10x42 is touted as having extremely
rugged construction although without doing a side by side comparison,
the Legend may have a sight edge on optic quality itself. The Legend is
lacking target turrets, and the ability to add a lens hood. The
SS also has a great advantage for long range shooting as it has a lot
larger adjustment range in elevation.
Anyway, If any one has a Bushnell 5x15 legend and are willing to give any of your observations or comparisons between it and similar scopes , it would be appreciated. |

Crusader;
Interestingly enough, I was made a back-to-back comparison of the Bushnell Legend 5-15X A/O mil-dot with a Nikon Monarch 3.3-10X A/O mil-dot yesterday, the 24th. The Nikon in on my CZ452 .22lr, & the Bushnell is on my Zastava .223.
Even though the Bushnell has a max magnification of 15X vs the 10X of the Nikon, due to superior resolution, the Nikon was clearly the better glass when viewing the same target at the same distance. The targets were ground squirrels & the ranges viewed at varied between around 85 to perhaps 350 yards or so. However, one must keep in mind that the Legend costs about 1/2 what the Nikon does.
I did this in fact as a scope comparison. I was not attempting to shoot animals at extended ranges with a .22lr. I'm sorry to burst the bubble of those who were getting their shorts in a tight knot & anticipating having a good rant. Where's a neener emoticon when ya need one?
I've had the Bushnell for a couple of years now & am happy with it. I've not had it on any hard-recoiling caliber guns & don't intend to put it on one either. If the Zastava comes into it's own as a walking varminter, I may upgrade the glass on it & keep the Bushy around as starter glass for whatever shows up in my greedy little hands next.
