For that price you can't beat the Vortex Crossfire that SWFA has a special on for $99.00.  You will have a far better scope and the best Customer Service in the industry IMO if needed.

Out of the two the Simmons WTC seems a little more optically sound IMO.

However, SWFA no longer has any of the Simmons WTC's Sad

SVT made a very good point with the Crossfire, probably the best bang for your buck in the industry at this time.

The Vortex Crossfires are very tempting and have been for a while now. At first I only found a few reviews and only one of them was bad. The other couple were good. However, lately, I've read more than one report popping up recently on other forums of people having issues or not liking the Crossfires. They have all said that SWFA has been great to work with though. This worries me and makes me wonder if they are worth even trying. I've seen a decent amount of good reviews now too though and that happens with every cheap scope. So it's hard to tell if they are really having issues or if they are just bashing it because it's cheap.

Out of your two choices I think both are decent. I've got Several friends that use Simmons scopes as well as 2 that use Bushnell Banners. The only complaint I've heard about the Banner is about the low light performance. One of the guys that has the Banner tried a Simmons and had it fail after a year. The rest of my friends have had great luck with them myself included. The other guy that owns a Banner also has several Simmons WTC's.

The Simmons I've used seem to be reliable. What you give up over more expnesive scopes is low light performance mainly and a little clarity. In daylight they seem pretty clear and decent. in low light is the only time I've really seen a big difference but I don't need a scope that performs well at night because I don't shoot at night. Now I've never used a Simmons WTC but have been relatively happy with the cheaper Simmons I've used. The majority of my friends that shoot and hunting buddies use Simmons pretty much exclusively and they all seem to be happy with them.

You read a lot bad about them online but I think it's mostly just because they are cheap. My experience and most of my friends experiences don't seem to match the experience people talk about online. I've only known one person to have one fail. Yet I know 3 people that have had Leupolds fail and I know a lot less people that own Leupolds.

If the Burris Timberline is still on sale, "just checked, still is on sale" you might give it a look. It's clear glass, has good eye relief, and mine holds zero really well. For 100 yard shooting you won't beat it for value and glass quality in that price range.

I have never had one but have examined a couple and they get very good reviews on various board. I would consider a sightron if I was looking to spend in the $100 range. Another alternative would be to visit the sample list and pickup a good Nikon prostaff. I would trust either before the two you mentioned even of they were a bit lower powered. Just my .02
