I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 8-32x40 mounted on my .22/250 and I can't figure out how to rezero the elevation and windage adjusters without affecting my scope. The manual says to loosen the screw(s) in the adjustment bar, but mine has no bar, instead each knob has a smaller knob in the center where the pictures show the bar. Can anyone help me out on how to loosen these and return them to zero without changing the alignment of my scope?

On my 4-16x40 the target knobs are held on by a small screw that is on top.  By unscrewing the screw counterclockwise you can remove the screw at which time the knob can be lifted up and put back on with zero at the mark where its supposed to be. Then replace the screw finger tight.

I tried doing that because it has threads on the outside for grip, but I couldn't make it turn. Should I try to use some small pliers with a cloth or some other form of protection over the threads?

Did you get your small screw loosened yet?
I also have an Elite 4200, and my screws are both stuck. I have tried undoing one with some pliers and protective cloth, with no luck, but still managed to damage the finish.
