Fellas I have a problem. My local gun store just gave me a price on a Sako Grey Wolf .300 WSM. Problem is he listed it at $1549, the MSRP. I have seen similar guns selling for under $1300 at gunbroker. Is he just confused or is this how they price Sakos? He told me he talked to his actual Sako rep about price and availibilty. Hopefully it's just a misunderstanding. I was working when he called so I didn't have time to question him.   Any thoughts , Sam

What Dale said.

Typically you want to try to talk to different dealers.  Also, a lot of them will give you a significant discount if they have the gun in stock.  If they have to order it from a distributor, then they assume you really want it and try to scalp you.

I think your best bet may be to buy off of gunbroker or gunsamerica or others.

I paid just over a $1000 for my Sako M75 SS about 4 years ago.

That sounds terribly high for that rifle, but I haven't ever seen one other than pictures.

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Yes I meant his Beratta rep. The problem is I have $750 store credit from a rifle and scope that they sold for me on consignment so I'd like to put that towards the Sako. I'd use it towards the Zeiss Conquest I plan on purchasing, based on the recommendations I've read here, but that leaves me with $300. I guess I should just call him back and double check his info. Thanks guys, Sam

P.S. anyone have any info on the new Sako 85 model?
