OK, so to date all I have used was a couple pairs of ARMS QD 39mm rings for my 2 scopes.
They are a bit heavy. After reading here, and other places I have come around to the need for getting some quality mounts for a quality scope. I just picked up a set of Weaver 30 mm medium rings. A definite difference in weight. I have received recommendations for Talleys and Seekins. I am probably being silly, but dont like the look of the Talleys with the top screws. If one doesnt want to spring for Seekins, what is there below that? Have enough people used the SWFA rings to determine where they fit in the ring landscape? I see the SWFA 30 MM precision mount which would be ideal for a scope I plan to swap between rifles. I was also looking into an AR scope, and saw the SSALT mount and the GenIII AADMOUNTS. |

Oh, and an addition. When I look at the Talley LW (which are suggested a lot around here)
http://swfa.com/30mm-C1433.aspx All I see are rings designed for specific rifles it appears, not a picatinny base. Am I missing something here? |

TPS would be about as good as Seekins for less. You aren't missing anything on the Talley. If you want light weight picatinny, TPS and Seekins are about it, excepting the $$$ boutique items.

Seekins for me in a "tactical application". Talley LW's if your wanting more of a hunting style.
I like both, but Talley's leave the loading port more accessible if you don't have a DM set up. $40...and your done. I've replaced all my picatinny stuff and went with Talley light weights and don't feel I'm giving up anything other than weight.
I agree with Urbs 100% on the TPS. Exceptional quality, IF...you can find them. I have a set of 1" low TPS rings that I have rat holed for several years now. EGW rail and TPS rings would work well. |

I'll put Seekins on anything that'll run 'em. I like my Tikka T3 light, but it was hard not to have that option with it.
