Since the variables never seem to make it, broke down and ordered a SS16 yesterday.  Along with sunshade, mildot master, and BC flip ups.

Got an email today saying:

Scope is backordered.

Flip ups are backordered.

Cancelled my entire order.  Waste of time.

Any suggestions on other similar scopes with 30mm tube (since I already ordered rings elsewhere when I placed the SS order).  Primary use is for paper and long range p-dog shooting (400-500).

Don't think you will find a 30 mm tube in that price range. The ss 16 isn't really a paper scope or dog gun, it was designed for varmits of another kind. I suggest you look more toward something like a Burris FII 6.5 by 20 and get some 30 to 1 inch inserts from Brownells.

Dont really need to stay in that price range.

How are the Nikon tacticals?  They have 30mm tubes, varialbles with side focus.  Use the monarch glass??

If you can go a little above that range Burris Black Diamond and Euro Diamond are very good and offer many choices.  To reach far out, I would recommend a 6-24x50 Black Diamond, although I know people who were quite happy with a 4-16x50 Black Diamond for shooting pretty far out.

Hello.

I like the Nikon Tactical, though I don't own one.....yet!

30mm tube, side focus, heavy duty construction, laser etched reticle.

As far as the Monarch glass question, I don't know for sure. Good question.

I do know the Monarch uses a wire reticle.

Good luck!!

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

Jeez man... these things happen.  Sometimes things beyond our control affect inventory levels and delivery dates.  Shelves should be full again on all SS scopes and related items the first of February.

FIRST OF FEBRUARY?!?!?! Damn, I've been waiting since the middle of December, if it's going to take that long is there anyway I can preorder for a variable? Are you sticking with a release of sometime in the Spring of 06?

DUDES that's only 13 more days.  People who are doing the job that gives you the right to come on this forum and bitch and moan about not having your order filled the very minute you make it, are some of the ones who ordered all the scopes up.  If you can wait another couple of weeks SWFA will get you what you ordered.  They are a very good, fair, and reputable company.  Things take time and it's not all about YOU.  Now that my rant is over, I wish you would have waited because the Super Sniper's are awsome scopes with a great reputation, you would have been very pleased.

Cheaptrick,

Your so broke you can hardly pay attention.

I guess we're all saving for something.  I'm debating with buying the 10x SS or waiting for the variables to come out.

But I can wait, I can shoot my M1A until I can pick up a scope for the 700.

I realize that stuff sells out and inventory fluctuates.  Guess I'm just spoiled with some of the sites that list an inventory level or at least an "in-stock" or "not in stock".  Only thing close was the "not in stock" on the xotic.

Had someone mentioned to me in the email that they would be in stock within a couple of weeks, I would not have cancelled the order.  But since no one mentioned that...I cancelled and went looking for input on other 30mm tacticals.  Since then I have found a 30mm Swarovski PH 4x16 in my safe that I can use the rings on.

Still looking for suggestions on a tactical.  Didn't really want to pay for a Nightforce until I learn whether or not I like the tac style scopes, but that seems to be the way things are heading.  Unless anyone has other suggestions?

Re-order a SS10x42 rear focus.  You won't be dissapointed and it will let you know if you like the tac scopes at a good price.  The Super Snipers cannot compete with USO, Nightforce and S&B but those cost $1000 to $2500 dollars a piece.  I think they out do everything else $800 dollars and under.

If price isn't a problem definitely go with the Nightforce- You will NOT be disappointed in either the tactical type style or in the quality of construction. While the SS is an outstanding buy for the dollar, it is not the scope even a 12x leo target scope is optically or mechanically (I know I'm going to get it for that one). Yess, yes I know. When the numbers of SS sold equal the number of 12x Leo sold for the last 25 years then we'll talk.

Don't plan on seeing a SS variable for some time.  Unforeseen issues have delayed the project and at this time we have no dates.

Dale.  Its hard to tell sometimes when your being funny but this time it was pretty clear.  I haven't laughed that hard in a while.  Come on man, the 12x Leupold???  The SS is very easily better, optically and especially mechanically.  Lets put one on a M14 and send it to war for a year and see what happens.

I'd be willing to bet that the SS has out sold the 12x Leupold every year that both have been offered.  I'd bet that just one of our military orders would top Leupold's 12x sales for a year.

The 12 Leo were being used on Ma dueces in Nam way before as a "sniper scope" and I heard tales of their use on 20 mm but was unable to verify. When the total number of sales of SS equal the leo I'll be satisfied, until then it is only conjecture. The military would not buy scopes then or the numbers for the sale of the leo would have been off the scale and the SS would never touch it. I've used several different scopes on M-1A's and the M-1A's are not near as bad as the AK on a scope. If the current military "chose" the SS over the Leo (although I suspect it wasn't even submitted) the price would still have been to high for the Leo. I'm not saying that the purchase of the SS is anywhere near the fiasco the 9mm or the current choice of the FN over the Robinson for the replacement of the M-16 but any military purchase is not based solely on performance option, at least half of it is politics.

These 3 are pretty tough on scopes too.

There a couple of SS's on the sample list. You can have one tomorrow and save a few bucks.

Inquired on a couple more scopes today.  Did not have the XTR I was looking for (not out yet, understandable).  Checked to see what other SS scopes were in stock.  Guess what....none.

So, I'm off to hunt down the best price I can find on a NF scope.  I figure if I don't like it, I can get most of the funds back out of it on resale.  Any suggestions on a good online NF dealer (one that actually STOCKS them).
