I've got an Aimpoint Comp C and don't like it. Not because there's anything wrong with it but because there's something wrong with me. I've get an eye condition that comes with advancing age called presbyopia, in which the lens in your eye becomes brittle and makes it unable for you to focus at close range. With iron sights, it manifests itself as a blurred front sight. With the Aimpoint, it manifests itself as a dot and a half, as opposed to a single dot. Although I could live with this if I had to, it is unnerving not to see a single dot. The sad fact is that I don't have the same degree of problem in my left eye, but I shoot right handed. If I was younger, I probably would have at least attempted to switch to left hand shooting. I've been able to compensate for this with my pistol by using my left eye even though I'm right handed. You can't do this with a rifle though. I have looked through a few Bushnell's and Eotech's and don't seem to have the same problem, presumably because holosights focus out at 50 yards.
Does anyone have the same problem I have with the Aimpoint? Just a curiosity issue on my part. |

Are you keeping both eyes opened, and focusing on the target, not the dot??
My problem is astigmatism, which makes the Holosight reticle look fuzzy. I like it, but it's fuzzy even with my glasses. No proplems at all for me with my Comp C. |

fenian,
Both eyes are open. I have shot for years with both eyes open with peep sights. I don't have the problem with the left eye, only with the right eye. Front iron sights are blurry with the right eye, not quite as bad with the left eye. |

I bet this guy could help: http://www.boothelasercenter.com/
Brady,
Thanks for the input, but laser surgery can't correct presbyopia. Now if you hear of any time machines out there, let me know. That would certainly help. |
