Winchester 1906… pretty sure my dad had one.   He got rid of it when I was 3, but I remember it.

I had one. It used to be a tiny bit sticky ejecting High Speed ammo, but it worked. Awful short little stock, though ( my nose was practically on the hammer! )...I also had a Model 62 at that time, and a Model 61 ( my Favorite of Favs!! ), so I really didn't need that little rifle, so I traded that 1906 EVEN UP for a Colt Peacemaker 22!!  Shocked

The smooth feeding system of the 9422 is virtually identical to the old, discontinued Model 61....

I looked all over the gun show for a 1906 Winchester. There were a lot of Model 62s, a few 1890s, but no 1906s.

In high school I bought an old 1906 from a friend of mine for about $10. It had a broken stock, but it had both pieces, and a worn out barrel, but it worked. My brother wanted to restock it, and sleeve the barrel, so I gave the project to him. He restocked it with a beautiful 1890 style stock, but couldn't sleeve the barrel, so re-barrelled it with an octagon barrel. The rifle looked great, but was drilled off center and bullets only came out sideways.
A couple of months ago, my brother said, with his new lathe, he could now sleeve the original barrel that he still had; he just needed the rifle. I gave him the rifle at our aunt's funeral, and he has since completed the work, and said it shoots great. I just need to go to Nastyville and pick it up. Not that I'm in any hurry: this project has only taken 40+ years.

Oh, and Skip, since you sold that CZ 85 Combat, and it would have been perfect for my intended use, I no longer want a CZ 85.

Hmmm, a Marlin 39A pre safety. A couple of friends of mine had those; real tack drivers. We'd shoot cans at 200yds with them when they were topped with Bushnell 22 scopes with a 22 BDC.
