So... looking for an El-cheapo scope for a 10/22.  Not looking to spend over $60.00.  I know that everything in that price range will be chinese and bottom of the line.  The 10/22 in question has a folding stock so keep that in mind. I would prefer to keep the scope somewhat compact as well, and hopefully something with variable power although that isn't a deal breaker.

So far this is what I've found

Simmons 22 mag 3-9 (this is a little larger than I'd like)

BSA sweet .22 (same as above)

Tasco 1.5-4.5x32

NcStar 2-6x28

Red dots ????

fixed powers ???? 2x or 2.5x or 4x

I would just like to hear the good/bad/ugly and any or all opinions.

In that price range I would probably use a 3-9 Tasco.    My  375 H&H hasnt broke it yet.

I have a Sweet 22 on my 10/22.  It has served very well, but it is WAY not compact.  FOV is just OK, glass is just OK, BDC works very well.  I've shot out to 200 with it and it is very good in plenty of light.  Low light is only passable.  I'm probably going to get a red dot, probably an Aimpoint.  I had a Barska red dot for a long time and slew many varmints with it.  I finally gave it to a guy to use on one of his "hog pistols".  The Sweet 22 has been better than the price indicates it should be...

If memory serves me right there were a couple of small chinese 4x32 scope that were really cheap and somewhat serviceable.  I think Simmons had one.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  I'm going to check out the Tasco 1.5-4.5x32.  I think it might be a little bigger than I'd like, but I think it might serve my purposes best.

What I'd really love to find is an old Tasco 1.75-5x20 (one of the Japanese made models)  I use to have one on a sporterized 1917 Eddystone years back and it was a great scope.

SWFA should make one.  Would make a fantastic dangerous game scopeWink

I have a Simmons 4x32 22 MAG scope.  It is not really compact, but you can't really kick for the price either.  I queried the forum the other day about a TruGlo 4x32 Compact rimfire and nobody seemed to know anything about it.  Turns out there is a dealer in town that has them and without mounting on a rifle and using it, they actyally look pretty decent.  They are around $45.00 here locally.  They are in fact compact and might serve your needs.
