WW2 US CATTARAUGUS 225Q COMMANDO FIGHTING KNIFE-SOLD

Here's a Cattaraugus 225Q World War II Quartermaster knife. These were made by Cattaraugus in New York State. You can find them on eBay and here and there in all kinds of conditions. This is an Internet photo of a pretty decent one that looks like it has been polished up a bit.

I have one that I have had ever since I was 12 years old. About 30 years ago me and my wife's uncle polished mine up with some jewelers rouge and took some of the stains off. Mine looks like one of the Better Specimens now. And then I bought a new sheath for it finally after 50 years!

Lot - Cattaraugus 225Q Fighting Knife

These knives are very stout. They have a convex edge so I always struggled to get an edge on it with whetstones. I need to get a strop.

You can make a strop for knives out of an old leather belt, nail it to something, rough face up. Load it with 800 grit lapping paste, or green or white stroping paste.
Total cost: $3.
