I saw were Bushnell advertises a illuminated mil dot reticle but every picture I have seen shows one that looks like multix with a little thicker outer lines. Does it glow and if so what color and how does it compare to the firefly? Is it brighter, more dependable or about the same. I was also wondering if the firefly slowly dimmed or just stayed lit until the charge wore off and then went back to black. Thanks.

Which scope are you referring to that has an illuminated mil dot reticle?
If you are talking about the Elite 4200 2.5-10x50 with an illuminated dot, it is just a small dot in the center that lights up red. You can control the intensity and it is battery operated.
Both the FireFly and Illuminated dot are dependant on batteries, both are just as reliable. The illuminated dot can be turned on and off at will, the FireFly has to slowly fade away.

Never had the opportunity to see how the illuminated reticle performs, but the FireFly does as Chris stated. You owe it to yourself to take a long hard look at a Firefly equipped scope.
