Over the years Rancid has taken the credit for killing many of the things I've killed.
Dove and pigs come to mind first.

How's it work on those safaris as far as eating what you shoot? Knowing nothing about it, I'd reckon that the locals get the meat, but a smorgasbord with samples of all of those game animals would be great.

apparently the PH's are allowed to sell the venison and/or give it away as well.

The venison of the African animals is ' to die for' . Eat as much of it as you can. There is no BAD MEAT in South Africa. Hunters usually throw some kind of braai or barbeque in the Hotel where they are staying and the whole neighborhood shows up to ....umm........PIG OUT. I have been fortunate enough to have been drinking at a hotel in Pongola at the same time that some hunter was cooking venison! Woo Hoo!! I stayed all night!

![]() ![]() Most safari outfits will use the meat that client shoots, why go buy meat if you have plenty available. Best way to eat wors is straight of the fire. |

That's my hunting area Son of Ed just left of the N2 sign it says Magudu, if you come down to where the river makes a bump up. That's where we go hunt every year, can only afford Impala this year. But as long as I get to go hunting I'm happy. ![]() Zeekoepan river Safaris http://www.hunting-safaris-africa.com/ |

Neato! I was working two drilling rigs down in Zululand about two hours south of Pongola ( down some gravel road ) in an area that I cannot think of the name right now. But people were hunting up there in Pongola.
Nongoma!!! That's it! It's on that little map!

Ed, soon... you and I are going to have to sit down with a bottle of your choice of finest, a couple of great cigars and plenty of time to swap tales... Man, YOU have led an amazing life. You remind me of Hemingway or Teddy Roosevelt. I look forward to meeting you, soon I hope..
RC, it seems like yesterday you started this thread and now it is almost time. I hope you have everything together... I know you will. May the game be plentiful, all your shots true, the celebrations grand...

Beautifull area and it has an abundance of game, would recomend hunting in Natal to any one looking to come to South africa. Although hunting in SA for non residents is not cheap, RC how do the prices on Zeekoepan River Lodge Safaris website compare to where you are going? |
