just wondering if anyone knows whether the target turrets are waterproof as they don't close down onto the rubber seals? if not this would make them rather obsolete in wet or moist conditions, despite the fact they look rather cool!

It seems to me that they should seat on the seals, That's rather odd I think. MARK!!!!!! we need some clarification here.

Should be good to go as far as not getting in water inside your scope. I had target turrets on my old Monarch, but she was a safe queen and never saw any rain or bad weather either.
Never did the "bubble test" with that scope......
I'd give Nikon USA a shout to find out for sure, friend.

thanks all.
it just seems to me that with the standard hunter caps and high hunter caps, they actually go over and cover the adjustment knobs underneath as well as closing down on the seals. the target turrets simply replace the standard adjustment knobs without any further covering and without closing down on the seals. i may just need to check with nikon, because the seals appear to be the only barrier to keep out dust and moisture. are there other internal seals that i'm not seeing?......anyone? |

The turret covers just keep the turrets themselves from harm and the bulk of the water and dirt out, but I don't know if you could call them waterproof or not. The real "waterproofness" of the scope is in the seals between the turrets and the scope itself. Maybe some more seals on the inside too, I don't know.
I think you'll be fine, but call Nikon USA and talk to one the the techs to be sure.
