I think you are fine on the post count number.  If you go too low, you might have too many people on the list wanting to test it (which is not a bad thing), and then the wait time to get and test the scope is too long.

Couple questions?  How many of each will you be sending out?  When a person is done testing it, do they send it back to you, or do they send it to the next person on the list?  Can I put my name on a list now, but specify a date that I would need the scope sent after, or should I wait til after that date, and then put my name on the list?

Great idea!  I would love to be able to test any scope you make available!

Keep the big fan spinning!

Why not try it out at that level and keep it subject to change as you find out how it taxes your resources, etc?
I'm really excited about this, Chris!
It should make for some very interesting threads on the site!

Chris, I think it should be a floating minimum post count using the simple formula:

(RONK's post count) + 1 = TDmin Wink

My biggest concern is theft and after 300 posts we kinda know who we are dealing with.  I've seen a couple of guys join and make 50 one word posts so that they could post For Sale ads and I did not want the number to be low enough that some one would be tempted to pyro his post count (did I just say that?)

I would rather you ask to Test Drive when you are ready, because I don't know who will have the product and how many will be in line at the time you desire.

We initially send the product to the first person on the list, then they send it to the next and so on and so on.

I am actually surprised that you don't have a higher post count than 300.

I to am surprised you don't require a higher post count and have a requirement that the tester be an SWFA customer and have their credit card on file and require it to be charged to them until they return the item, only fair to both sides.
You might do like Avis and start a rent a scope business with insurance etc.

We're pretty trusting and for the most part hunters/shooters are good people.

I like the Rent-A-Scope idea, except I know how I treat rent cars and I would expect people would not be as careful if it was not their own.  We've had several customers buy a Geovid binocular and a Swarovski scope for a trip to Africa then just sell them when they got back for a slight loss, that is kinda like renting.
