I need to scope my 220swift Rem 700 VSSF and want to put Nikon Monarch scope on it.  I am not sure if I want the new BDC reticle though.  This rifle will be used for coyote, PD and some long range target shooting.  I am concerned the circles of the BDC will obstruct view of smaller targets at long ranges.  I am also torn between 4-16x42 or 5-20x44 models.

HELP!

Welcome to The OT.

Here's a review I did of the BDC. I don't think it will be a problem on small targets.

Hope it helps you in your decision.

I've made the decision to use the BDC on my varmint rigs and am not regretting it.

I am about to mount a Nikon Laser IRT on my .220Swift.  Have used it on a couple of other rifles, and I love it.  The BDC is what "makes" it.  Excellent glass by Nikon for the $, BDC works fine...don't think you have to worry about game concealment by the reticle, especially at the ranges you cited.  The gunsmith I use recommends Nikon w/BDC to everyone since he mounted one and sighted in the rifle for a customer about 5 years ago.  He hasn't recommended anything else since, that I know of.  Really good value optic.

This Shoot N See target was shot using the BDC circles with my .308 @ 300 yards. I agree with Kickboxer, the BDC reticle should be good to go for you.

Just got my 6-24x50 monarch last night.  It came with std knobs and in the box they now include tall target knobs with caps and large tapered tactical type knobs and a sunshde.  So far I am very impressed.  Nice glass, interested to see how well the BDC works on prairie poodles.

I think you're gonna love that Monarch .... I wish I had bought one before others before ... would'nt trade mine for anything .... let us know buddy ! Of course I would'nt have gotten mine from SWFA at almost half price if I had .... I skip and dance to the woods now to use it ... nawwww .... that's a lie .... I'd fall down . Thanks again to Chris for that super deal ! Wish I had bought 2 .... 1 in both magnifications and objectives ...  still kicking my own butt !

I'm VERY interested in reading your impressions. I think the BDC and a range finder will work well for you.
