Do any forum members have any experience in shooting XM856 Tracer Ammo in an AR-15, or similiar rifle?  Does it perform all right in a 1-in-9"
twist barrel?  Is a faster twist needed?  Appreciate any comments. Thanks.  Have a great Memorial Day.

It's been a long time, and I'm not sure of the designation, but I believe that is the 62 (?) grain bullet with the orange tip?

I've fired a couple different kinds of tracers through my 20-inch 1-9 twist AR with no problems, but I wasn't shooting it for accuracy, either.  More for the pyrotechnic effects than anything else. Awesome when shooting at long range near dusk!

AR15.com.  used to have an ammunition FAQs section that addressed all the ins and outs of military ammo, tracers included, I think. Check that out.

Keep in mind when using tracers, that most ranges don't allow the use of it.  I is fun to take out at night and shoot some rounds off.  Best done during the rainy season as well.  I know one guy out here in Montana that had a heck of a time puting out the fire when it landed in a dry field.

Good point, Helo!  Was that the fire your avatar is putting out? Shocked
It's pretty cool how they burn holes through green vegetation, though!

Barrel length has no influence on tracer burn.  Blast away, preferably after rain or with a fire extinguisher.
Because it's fun! That's why

It's even cooler when they burn through a slope head
