Knowing this is an optics page, it's the only site I belong to; therefore will go a bit out of bounds. Do any of you reloaders (I know you're out there) know what is involved in converting .222 brass into .221 fireball?

Thanks in advance

Your not out of bounds at all,  there actually is a reloading section in this forum.  Some of the more knowledgeable people here will be on board to help you with your question.

RCBS and Redding both make (or have made) case forming dies for this conversion.  You might be able to get by with just running the 222 case into the 221 die.  Either way you'd then have to cut the case to length, and maybe ream the neck.

i change my answer, i did a double check and i dont think a simple trim will work. the shoulder to head distances are different enough so that im not sure its possible to do, the .221 is just "based" off the triple duce.

in the old days when .221 fireball was just getting going, (for those of you who remember the xp-s ) rcbs had a trim die that when bottomed out with a 222, one would simply cut the top off with a hacksaw, clean up with a trimmer and fireform. but I don't see it listed anymore -- try Huntington dies.
