I don't see where I can buy Zeiss conquests for so much less than a VXIII. I just got a Conquest 4.5-14x44 for $750. The 4.5-14x40 VXIII was $550 BEFORE the price reduction. Typically the Zeiss are significantly more aside from the cheaper 3x9 Zeiss.
I've been reading on these forums for years before I became a member. I have noticed the more anti-Leupold this forum got the "members viewing" numbers dropped accordingly. I get the feeling some people feel the more they dislike Leupold the more they know about optics. It's gotten pretty predictable too. Just look at all the posts on threads mentioning Leupolds. Like pirhannas me thinks. I like features of all the scopes I own. Some of which cost much more than Leupy's. But I still like the Leupy's too.

i have a foundness to the vx3 gun metal grey scope in a 3.5x10x40, if i ever got a gun with a stainless barrel and a grey laminate stock that would be my scope of choice for that rifle for sure, just cause i like the color so much.

if a scope costs more than a leupold it has a reason too, the zeiss victory divari should be a $1200 scope or more, the swaro z6 is worth every penny it costs. we have some of the sharpest optics people on staff here at the ot imo, so if they say something its not because they are guessing, its because they have taken the time to test the products, or they own them already, its no spoof we know our stuff here. we dont bash leupold because we think loopie owners are retards, we bash leupold because they over price there products.

I own those other Swaro's and Zeiss too Pyro and I've drawn a little different conclusion. Not everyone who likes Leupold does so because they don't know any better. You do not have some truth you need to enlighten Leupold fans with. The conclusion I've drawn from all the scopes I've owned is that every design has a trade off and none are perfect.
Apparently some have not done their homework to insist Conquests are less money than VX III's. That's just not the case when comparing similarly equipped scopes.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed the Leupold haters.

I'm not a "closet" anything. I think I've been pretty clear how I feel about it. No closets here.
Let's not forget Optics are IMO affected by the law of diminishing returns. By that I mean I don't think a $600 scope is twice as good as a $300 scope. And I don't think a $1000 scope is twice as good as a $500 scope. For all of you who hate $500 Leupold's because they're overpriced I wonder why you're sunshine pumpers for $1000 Swaro's. Yeah those Swaros are bargains. I know better. I own Swaro's. Diminishing returns IMO. Edited by Horsemany - December/12/2008 at 22:06 |

you do realize that it took leupold to drop there prices for close out reasons to ge the vx3 2.5x8 to be cheaper than the same zeiss conquest dont you?? im pretty sure that the same holds true when compared to other scopes.
the truth is they are over priced bottom line, you cant deny it and thats no lie.
i find it very intresting that you say you own all these great scopes and yet you think that they arent that much better than anything leupold makes, and yet you keep saying your not a leupold fan are you sure of that? anybody who tells me that the leupold scope is as good as any swaro scope needs there head and there eyes checked. What would be "the right price" for a leupold vx3 What if the vx3, z conquest, and n monarch were all the same price?? how would you rank them then??

I haven't shopped the lower magnification stuff. I know everything I've ever priced between the two the VX III was considerably less than the Conquest. Like I said 4.5-14's are $200 more. The 3.5-10 are nearly $200 more. Fact is most Conquest's cost more money NOT less like every Leupy hater here claims.

You need to go back and read my post. I didn't say the Leupy's are as good as the Swaro's. I'm saying they are not TWICE as good. I would argue the Leupy is a better VALUE than the Swaro. Let me know when it sinks in. Edited by Horsemany - December/12/2008 at 22:15 |

if they were all the same price the world would be a very intresting place, so if the vx3 the conquest and the monarch were all $399 for the same 2.5x10 that would be awesome. i dont know how good the new monarch is i havent played with one yet, but from what i hear its a better scope than the old ucc which i own a couple of, and to be honest until lower light time rolled around the ucc and the conquest were to close to call for me, once it got a little darker the etched reticle of the conquest made a difference it was easier to see. if i had to guess i would say the new monarch the conquest and the vx3 in that order.

You have to wonder what the reason some people come here for? Some seem to join just to have this "discussion."
I think it is fair to keep asking "What has Leupold done for use lately?" A long with the parallel question "is that something I want or need?"
Then we have questions like "Why do I need over 4 inches of eye relief if I am not shooting a big magnum?" "Why not just make a heavy recoil line?"
We have been wondering for a long time why don't they just improve the quality of the glass? Even if it is just at the upper end of the price scale. I find so many people want to justify Leupold by price rather than quality rather than ask why people would rather pay more for better?

no it sounds like some people join this forum to troll for a pissing contest! i dont understand where your coming up with this crap, we have said plenty of times that leupold doesnt make a bad scope, i have owned everything from varixII3x9 to m8-24xAO they dont make a bad scope they just dont sell them at a proper price.

Pyro.
Now that I agree with. They do make a pretty good scope. Not nearly the best, but good. A better value than some of the more expensive scopes they are sometimes compared to I'd say. However IMO there are better values like 4200's, Monarch, etc.
I'm not trolling for a pissing contest. I have a different opinion than you. That's all. We all get an opinion I think.

no doubt, i respect that. like i said if they changed up there prices i would be more likely to buy more of there scopes i had very good luck with all the leupolds ive ever owned i have had to send one in to get the windage adjustment fixed on a older varixII other wise no trouble.

I for one don't know diddley squat about optics. I'll be honest and admit it. But I figured it was time that I start reading and learning about "quality". I don't shoot competively, I just hunt.....so maybe my quality quest will only go so far. I know my budget does.

The conquest should cost more than a VX3, it is a better scope. Glass is noticeably better, you can see that picking them up in a store let alone looking through one outside.

so does mine my friend! which is why i try to get the most bang for my buck, if paying $199 for the team primos or $300 for the bushnell 4200 elite is the best i can afford, im not going to save up for longer to buy a vx3 they perform to much alike.
