And actually the mall ninja's aren't even in the military, you get these little snot's who are only in the military for the college benefits (GI Bill). They don't really care about the mission or cause. It's more widespread then you'd probably care to know about.

i totally believe you.

Remember back when serving your country use to be an honor or writ of passage.  Now its a means to a paycheck and free education for most.

I wouldn't say most. The military institution is still at the top of peak when it comes to ratings among the American people. I think we're currently at 78% approval ratings which is like 8% higher than the next thing on the list (can't remember who it was off the top of my head...definitely not Congress or NObama lol).

The problem is in the age of multiple wars, you water down the  screening process. We have higher quotas to meet and the turnover rate is just to high because of the great benefits given. It's harder to retain people and with younger generations more and more spoiled you get people like this PFC who is betraying his country.

The main reason i got out was because i did 5 deployments in 4 years. I spent more time overseas than i did here in the states. I wanted a family and that wasn't going to happen anytime soon while in the military. And i knew if i stayed in i'd continue to deploy for years and that didn't leave me much of a social life. I dated two girls and was cheated on both times and quit trying to have a relationship for the last year and half. When i got out i tried college but being around 18-19 year old punks for a year, i couldn't take it and i left and got hired at my current employer.

My neighbor from back home signed up last year for the army.  Got married right before he went in, still together and she is currently pregnant.  She's due in December, he deploys in November for a 12 month tour.

4-6 months. We would get no more than 4 months off at home before going back. I actually deployed for 4 months, came home for 46 days and went back for another 5 lol. It was interesting to talk to the guys in the Army, because a lot said damn, id rather deploy for my year and have a year off than do the come and go crap. But it varied from person to person. I don't know if i could have handled a year or more straight through.

God bless the people who can do it, but there is no way i'd leave my wife and first child (or any for that matter) for that long.

he claims they where trying to get prego so he knew it was a possibility.  Guess the only frame of mind that would work in is to think if something happened to me I want to leave some sort of legacy.

You know what's funny is i actually knew a few couples that got married solely because the military would pay for separation at deployment. Married couples make a nice chunk of change when 1 goes overseas.

Thats was the reasoning for his marriage too Paul.  They got married by the county magistrate at his grandmas house on the river.  they didn't invite people but the "announcement" had an address to mail gifts too.

It took from about 7 this morning til 11 to get it all organized, file, read, replied, mailed, etc.  But its all done.  I do have a bunch of delq. letters to do but that is my goal for tomorrow.  It normally takes a few hours to do those and the only time to really get them done with the best chance of not being bothered is first thing in the AM.
