I am trying to decide between the 42mm and the 50mm Swaroskis. The cost difference is virtually nothing from my dealer. The scope will go on a Rem. CDL 280. I do alot of late evening hunting. The longest shot will be no more than 150 yards.

Welcome to OT.

I like 42mm objectives, it usually allows me to mount the scope lower to the receiver.

With a quality scope like a Swaro, you probably can't tell the slight advantage the 50mm objective may give you.

Great choice of glass!!

If at first you don't secede...try..try again.

I also would go with the 42mm objective in this situation. You really only notice the difference with a 50mm in really low light and even then the difference is not noticeable enough to be worth the extra size and weight of the scope. IMO

I have both, it depends on several things really, like how big your barrel is, how much comb rise is on your stock etc.  I would probably go with the 42 but would consider the 50 if it didn't get mounted too high.  Maybe you should also check out the Kahles CL line!

At that range, 3-10x42.  I would listen to gozarian about the new CL.
