Just wondering if anyone has tried the new nikon slughunter 1.65-5 X 36mm. I heard alot of talk about the old one that was a 3-9 X40 being to much scope for a shotgun. Just seeing what you guys thought.

I bought a camo nikon slughunter 3-9x40 scope (camo nikon rings) and it looks great on my camo mossberg 500 trophey slugster w/integral barrel. With 2 3/4 Winchester XP3's its a 200 yrd. nail driving machine.

IMO a 3-9 on a black powder is a touch too much , but do-able .. I like 2-7 or similar for the low end magnification at close range . |

I think Nikon did the right thing by adding the 1.5-6x36 scope to slug hunter line, this power range is more appropriate to a slug gun IMO.
