Have you ever tried one of Lasermax's internal guide rod lasers for semi-auto pistols, Chris? I've been considering one, but haven't heard a whole lot of comments, good or bad, about them from actual owners.
You wouldn't happen to be considering carrying Lasermax would you?

I've got one in my Sig 229 .357 and absolutely love it. You don't hear many comments because they are fairly expensive, I think they have come down a little in the last couple of years.

The website on your link indicates that they were designed to operate between 40* and 100* F. Since much of the year we are enjoying temperatures well into the negatives, I'll just have to stick with the lowly red laser, or worse yet - actual iron sights!! |

I have a lasermax on my Glock 23 http://www.lasermax.com/product.php?id=1 and like it OK but to be honest I'm thinking of switching to a Crimson Trace Laser grip instead http://www.crimsontrace.com/

Hmmmm... ironically, I was considering one for my Sig 229 .40, so your input is very pertinent to my decision. One of my reservations was that, if I'm not mistaken, you have to exchange the factory recoil spring for one that comes in the Lasermax kit to make it work. I was always told that one of the strong points to the Sig braided spring was its long term durability. I would hate to think I had to sacrifice longevity of the spring or reliability in exchange for the laser, but maybe the braided spring hoopla is all marketing hype and it's a non-issue. Even if it were an issue, springs are pretty inexpensive. Have you had any issues with the laser being accidentally turned on with normal holster carry? I was wondering how sensitive the takedown lever switch is.
Thanks for the feedback, Chris!

I have considered the new green lazer from Beamshot. I have a crimson trace on my 1911 and like it. I would rather have a green on a rifle though but Im not quite ready to make the jump.

I have not shot it enough with the laser to have any long term spring tension test results. It used to be my carry gun but now it is one of my house guns. I bought the laser for it for the intimidation factor and to make it easier for my wife to use. We've never had any problem with the holster turning it on but it is a generic soft holster not a form fitted holster made specifically for a 229.

I was actually going to buy one of these last night but I couldn't find them on your site. Do you sell them here?
Also, if you flipped that the other way around and put it on the flat top of a rifle..... could you then put this on top? Would it fit?

I thought this is interesting, It is from the Lasermax website regarding how difficult it is to go green.
Sam
It isn’t easy being green Current diode laser technology does not give green light. LaserMax uses sophisticated techniques using multiple crystals, filters and other optical components to convert commercial laser diode output into green light in the smallest package commercially available. Some things you should know Eye safety : The fancy optical filters are expensive, but they are important! Green laser technology emitsharmful infrared light that can damage the eye. LaserMax filters the infrared out of the Uni-Green TM so you(and anyone who is on the receiving end) is safe from eye damage. Buyer beware. Many manufacturers do not use filters. Recoil : Green lasers are much more complicated to build than red, blue, or infrared. They can’t all take therecoil. Buyer beware. Most green lasers are not built for live fire. Temperature : Green lasers are sensitive to temperature. Most will work between 50-70 degrees Farenheit.LaserMax uses proprietary technology to extend the range of operation to 40-100 degrees Farenheit, making the Uni-Green TM practical for temperate climates, home defense and indoor public spaces (law enforcement).Power output : To compensate for temperature sensitivity, some manufacturers exceed the output powerallowed by law. Even green light can damage the eyes if it is too bright. You can be assured that the LaserMax Uni-Green TM is completely eye safe and compliant with FDA regulations. |

No Ick we don't sell them yet. It is a new line we will be adding soon. Yes you can stack a little red dot or flashlight on top of it.

So you tried it on top? IT will fit? I can't believe it!
I would assume the little dot has a nob that fits into a slot on a rail system.... it fits with the slot on the lazermax? I can't believe it will actually fit. Usually things don't work out like that for me.
What is the ETA on you guys getting lasermax?

No I have not tried it but I don't know why it would not fit, that is the same "Weaver" type cross slot that the little red dots are made to mount to.

The trijicon RMRs I saw in the PDF brochure have TWO hex bolt base attachments. The green laser has ONE slot. That will not work with it, will it? Is there a trijicon base that uses one hex bolt?
Sorry, but I couldn' find an example of a trijicon attached to a rail anywhere in a google search.
Edit: Found a poor example, but an example none the less.
Would this one work below? It would be nice if there was an option lower and closer to the rail like this, but it says "currently unavailable".
Perhaps you have something on your site for mounting? Edited by Ick - April/06/2009 at 09:49 |

We are in the process of adding the new Trijicon products which include the RMR mounts. The Weaver/Picatinny mount does utilize a single cross bolt and should work fine on the LaserMax.
