Does anyone have any thoughts on a scope for a Ruger 10/22 rifle?  I intend to hunt rabbits and squirrels.

Thanks!

This would be a good scope.  I have one in 3-9x.  Glass is decent and it is pretty tough, I had mine mounted on a 45-70 for a while.

+1 on the weaver.  I am a fan of the fixed 4x rimfire scopes - Nikon or Weaver are great.

I have the Weaver 4X on my .22LR and it has been a great fun.  A few squirrels and rabbits (and turtles and birds) have died at the business end.

To exponentially increase the enjoyment factor, get a suppressor for the 10/22.

I have a Leupold compact 3-9x33 mounted on my 10/22 which is used exclusively for rabbits.

Another +1 on the Weaver RV7. For what you want to do you want a rimfire scope without an adjustable objective. Doing without AO will make it much faster on target.

Be sure to comply with all state and federal laws many states do have a provision for owning class III suppressors or firearms however some do not allow personal ownership. There are a lot of laws regarding them and you must report changes of address to BATF. All in all it is probably more of a pain than it is worth.

Wes,  trust me, it ain't!

Sending a lethal slug downrange with no more sound than a Daisy Red Rider is something to be experienced.

I have a can in the works now that I'll be swapping between a few guns.  I look forward to working up .308 subsonics for hog hunting.  Without the noise, the hogs don't scatter, assuming the one that takes the round drops on the spot and doesn't kick and squeal.

Suppressors are great fun, but Wes is right, they take some work to get, and people will bug you when you shoot with them; and if you don't follow the law, you will get a 1-way ticket to federal, "pound me in the a$$" penetentiary.

Here's a pic of "ol' girl on a Ruger pistol.  It is, what I can only call, sweet n' creamy goodness.

Swift.  Silent. Deadly.

RC what brand of suppressors are you using? I have seen and heard a few different one's that are JUST a little quieter than an unsuppressed one.

It is quite effective.

Be advised, there are faux suppressors that do absolutely nothing to reduce sound, and require no BATFE paperwork.

If it doesn't sound much quieter and significantly bad-er-ass, it ain't a real suppressor.

On my 10/22, it is about as loud as a pellet rifle shooting subsonic.

In a pinch 20 oz. water bottles are pretty effective mufflers , too!
If it is tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

Check your fire!

It is a federal crime, with HUGE prison sentences, to create, improvise, possess, or use a suppressor not registered with the BATFE.

I know it sounds like great fun to mess around with non-registered 20oz. bottles, but be advised that if a law enforcement type observes you using a water bottle to suppress the report of a gun, you've just committed a big, big crime in the eyes of the federal government.

If you want to enjoy the great fun that is shooting suppressed weapons, pay "The Man" first, or else!

I am aware of fake suppressors. But the one's I was refering to were about $600 and required the $200 federal tax. I just figured that like in other things some brands are just more effective than others. Plus maybe they were using ammo that was too hot.
