I have a bit of a delima. I just brought home my custom 6mm Rem from the 'smith and now it needs a scope. Due to some unforeseen events prior the first choice scope would not be now considered ($$$) I am now looking for what I call a mid priced scope ($180.00-$225.00) for this Custom stocked Model Seven Rem in 6mm with a medium weight 20" Hart barrel. I have a new 3X9X50 Leupold on hand I could use but wanted a more compact scope in the 3X9 range. I plan on hunting deer to varmints along with punching paper with this rifle. If I used the Leupy I might replace it (700 MtnLSS in 7/08) with a 1X4 Leupy but it is a bit over budget. I thought I'd see what others think while my backordered bullets decide when to come in.

Either of these will work. Both have very good glass. Just decide which reticle is more suited to your taste. Both are excellent values for glass quality, and durability.

I have looked at that Nikon scope online. I have to say I like the eye relief. I bought a 2X7 Elite 3200 and it has only 3 inches. It is mounted on a .35 Whelen and I wear corrective lenses...I aint been bit yet but it is close.

The Nikon would be real tough to do better at that price point.

For an additional $65 over your $225, there is the 2-8x32 Nikon Monarch. The 3-9x40 Nikon Team Primos is also a good choice. But for your rifle, the 2.5-8x32 Monarch would be my 1st choice over a 3x9 (looks wise) and will do anything for you a 3-9x40 can do.

Here's the one i'd pick-- The Rapid Reticle.
I wish SWFA would carry these. Edited by cyborg - June/10/2009 at 21:55 |

sscoyote.... While we appreciate contributions. Scope sellers/retailers regardless of whether SWFA carries a line or not, are competition and as such, are by rule not allowed to be posted as a link.
You are welcome to open a discussion about the optic in question. People that are curious will research the subject, and people will make comments pro or con.
Bottom line is that this site is owned and operated by SWFA, and such posts are disrespectful to them.
